As well as our main stage acts, we have a dazzling array of surprises on the evening, as well as some top notch food to keep you going all the way through the night… see below for a sneak peek at what’s in store.

STREET FOOD & DRINK

In keeping with the name, Hull Pie is all about the making of exceedingly good pies, and boy, are they popular! Recent years have seen the local lads and lasses win top awards at The Great British Pie Awards, Remarkable Hull & East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTA) and the Made In Hull Awards, as well as receiving rave reviews in press, including the Guardian, who praised their tempting range of “dangerously delicious pastry-wrapped items”- not that we needed to tell you that, their pies have been a Sanctuary snack of choice all year!

A bespoke Italian Ape’ bar will be serving chilled bubbles on tap with refreshing Prosecco Frizzante via the barrel. Fizz–tastic Prosecco cocktails can also be made to order for fans of sparkling wine with an added twist! The owner of Prosecco O’Clock is Dr Lisa Smith (Chemistry PhD from the University of Hull). We promote drinking responsibly from our bar and at all of our events.

The best burgers this side of the Atlantic!
Handcrafted in the City of Culture. The Kerb Edge crew frequently pitch up at markets, business parks and weddings throughout the country. These guys are in such high demand we just had to have them at the Union Ball. Having recently taken charge of the kitchen at one of Hull’s best-known watering holes, Head of Steam, Kerb Edge burgers are taking Hull by storm. Got beef, mate? Savour every. Single. Bite. Once your burger is gone there’s gonna be a huge burger-shaped hole in your life. Trust us: a Kerb Edge experience is one worth treasuring. It’s worth mentioning that there’s plenty of veggie options too, so even if you’re not a meat eater, Kerb Edge has something just for you!

ENTERTAINERS

Living Statue Busts

We want to ensure that all of our guests are greeted with the kind of style and glitz you would expect with this year’s theme. So, we’ve managed to enlist the help of some very special marble busts. They overheard some of us talking about this year’s End of Year Ball during a museum visit (we didn’t realise works of art could talk, too!) and we managed to get their heads turning as soon as they heard the names of the artists playing. You know those gargoyle statues that come to life? They’re like that; but better. Gargoyles are gross. These statues ooze class; they positively scream class. Prepare to be greeted by priceless works of marble art, brought back to life to celebrate the biggest social event in the HUU calendar.

There will be three fabulous sets for you to witness, all set to a choice of music, so schedule your event timetable to watch one of Emily’s shows. You won’t be able to believe your eyes!

The Harlequins

We can’t think of a better accompaniment to suit the glam and mystique of the End of Year Ball than the Harlequins. Enigmatic creatures twist and turn down the dark corridors of the Union. Knotted limbs unravel as these professional acrobats crawl out of the shadows and prepare to take hold of the dance floor! Taking influence from acrobalance and acro dance, the unique physicality of this act is guaranteed to both thrill and chill anyone daring enough to approach them on the night.
